Yesterday morning we received a pleasant surprise! New photos of Chapel from her birthday party! We had a cake delivered so that she could be celebrated on her birthday and we have been waiting for the photos.
This photo of a caregiver holding every child makes me very, very thankful!
My sweet Chapel!! (Most photos I have of Chapel are with this caregiver, which also makes me so thankful. It’s clear that she has a bond and attachment to her. And while this may make the early days of transitioning very difficult, it means that she’s learned to trust someone. That in itself is a huge monumental milestone that is key to all healthy attachment. Kids who’ve had consistent caregivers, even in institutions, tend to trust and attach to their new parents easier than if they’d never had consistency in care- a necessity of trust.)
In most photos I have Chapel is looking intently at her surroundings and seems to be soaking in the details. <3
We are soooo close to holding you- sweet girl!
