There’s nothing like getting really sick to give you a whole new lease on life. What a week it’s been so far! Monday began with plans of beginning a normal week of schooling, but a terrible stomach virus struck and Camila and Josiah were the first to be hit!
As the two of them rested on the couch, I went to get dressed for the day. I was certainly not prepared for what I found upon re-entering the living room! I came back into the living room and first noticed Amaus stacking our couch pillows into a slide, in typical Amaus fashion. But then I glanced over at Camila, and I immediately realized that she was having a seizure. It was so scary! You’re flooded with so many thoughts in moments like those! A mix of praying and freaking out, to be honest. I scooped her up, felt of her head, which didn’t feel that hot. I called Danny while giving her some Tylenol and hollering through the house for everyone to grab some shoes. Josiah buckled up Salem, I carried Camila. We drove with our flashers on to the ER and Danny met us along the way.
Camila was soon back to herself. She had experienced a febrile seizure. She had had a few febrile seizures (seizures from fever) as a baby. Once a person has one they’re more likely to have another one. In fact 2-3% of children have had them with fevers. It really doesn’t make it any less frightening though!
Camila was soon home sucking on a slushy, running around, and asking to go to church. And thankfully, she is now over the stomach bug-but is being treated for strep throat which she tested positive for at the ER. Phew. My poor darling.
Later that evening the virus from the abyss itself also hit Salem and I. Danny became Dr. Dad and tended to the ailing troops. He had a large job on his hands and crashed on the couch last night after making a dollar store run.
All of us are on the mend, except for Amaus, who is the latest casualty. Hopefully he’ll be back to himself by this evening.
Poor Amaus with his “sick bowl.” This is just the Reeds in the raw! 😉
I tell you what, there’s nothing like getting sick to make you appreciate health, family, and LIFE in general! Today I feel like conquering the world! (I’ve got to scrub an extremely messy house, so that’s pretty much the same thing!)
Thank you Jesus for taking care of Camila, and all of us! Thank you for healing!
Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
